Camping in Interlake RV Park: Rhinebeck New York

A mere 2 hours north of the Big Apple is this little RV Park in the Hudson Valley, perfect for your next getaway!  Interlake RV Park is located just outside of Rhinebeck, NY and with all the amenities of a big name RV Park, for a doable price, you won’t want to miss staying here.

Whether you are looking for a tent site or a site with Full Hook-Ups, there is something here for every kind of camper.  Not to mention there is a pool, a small arcade, and a great quiet location.  And with over 150 sites to choose from, there are plenty of options.

Location

New York state is often overlooked due to the impressive size and population in the 5 boroughs of New York City.  But I’m here to help you get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, even if just for a few days!

This peaceful little RV Park is perfect for all types of camping and getting away from most major cities of New York.  

Interlake RV Park is just 2 hours north of New York City, 1 hour and 10 mins from Albany, NY, and a little over 3 hours from Syracuse, NY.  With such close proximity to these cities, you can easily stay here for a quick weekend trip, or stay for as long as you need to feel rejuvenated by this peaceful place.   

Campground 

Interlake RV Park has over 150 campsites to choose from as well as a camping cottage, country suites and even a single room if you’re traveling solo.  We saw families, couples, groups of friends and just about anything in between as we walked around the campground.  So you won’t feel out of place if you choose to stay here.

As far as equipment goes, we saw tents, camper vans, travel trailers and large RVs and 5th wheels.  Whatever your preferred camping option, you will love staying at Interlake RV Park.  

The hiking nearby is excellent with the nearby Catskill Mountain Range.  The bathrooms are nice and clean with plenty of hot water in their showers.  The laundry room will allow you to not have to overpack and there is a touch of luxury with their onsite pool.  

The one reality check of this place is the lack of phone service (both AT&T and Verizon).  However, there is decent free WiFi and there is a paid WiFi option as well if you need to finish up some work.  Just don’t count on any hotspots working unless you are next to the Camp Store.

Time to Spend Here

Interlake RV Park has plenty of camping options, what with their 150+ campties and all.  From their tent sites, to the camper sites and even a cottage option, you can stay here for as long as you want.  There is no limit for the amount of time you can stay here between April 1st and October 31st.

But we all know there is typically a PTO limitation.  So let’s discuss!

Weekend Suggestion

If you decide to just camp here for a weekend, you will have plenty to do and enjoy.  From the amazing hiking trails, the Hudson Valley Vineyards, the quaint little towns nearby and the beautiful lakes you can enjoy in the Catskill Park area, you will have plenty to do.  

The weekend option means you’ll be getting in on Friday after 3pm and setting up camp.  If you get there early enough, you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool too!

Saturday you can either go explore some nearby New York towns, go hiking in the Catskills or even go vineyard hopping if that’s your vibe.  You have the whole day!  

Sunday you do have to be checked out by 10am, but you can get packed up and hit a few more local attractions in the area before you head back home.

Week Long Suggestion (DISCOUNT)

The best part about Interlake RV Park (as a couple on a budget) is that they offer week-long discounts!  Meaning, if you stay longer than 7 days, your daily rate is dropped by several dollars.  For example, if you were to book the 30AMP Water and Electric option, your rate is $64 per night.  But if you stay for over 7 days, the rate drops to $54 per night!

We took advantage of this discount rate and stayed longer.  This allowed us to spend more days in the Catskills and see more things.  

If you were to stay for the week, you would have plenty of towns to explore, such as Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Pine Plains, and even Poughkeepsie.  

You could also explore several wineries and breweries in the area, such as Slow Fox Farm Brewery, Black Snake Brewing Company, and Millbrook Vineyards.  

Or if nature is your game, you could hike some of the High Peaks of the Catskills such as Slide Mountain, Cornell Mountain, Wittenberg Mountain and any of the other 33 High Peaks.  

Whatever suggestion you go with, there’s so much in the area that you’re guaranteed to not be bored. 

Hiking Options

As I mentioned above, there are 33 high peaks in the Catskill Mountain Range.  These 33 peaks all reach 3500 feet above sea level, or higher.  When camping in Interlake RV Park, you will definitely have time for a couple of these impressive mountains!

There are also plenty of lower, shorter and easier trails throughout Catskill Park for hikers of all abilities.  So no matter what your level of skill, there is a trail calling your name in the Catskills!

Now, let’s get back to discussing your camping options, shall we?

Tent Sites

Let’s start with Interlake RV Park’s most rustic way to stay.  There are 4 tent sites in the park and they will accommodate up to 6 campers.  You can park at your site and there is water, a picnic table and a fire ring on the site.  

You will have access to the bathhouse, the showers, and all of the other amenities mentioned above, but at a much cheaper rate!  This is your most budget friendly option for sure.  

Camper/RV Sites

Next up is the most common way to stay at Interlake RV Park.  And that is in a recreational vehicle of some sort.  Teardrop trailers full on RVs can all fit in this RV Park and there are plenty of hook-up options for you to choose from.

Whether you want to go as cheap as possible in your camper with the 30AMP Electric and Water Only option.  Or if you want all the bells and whistles with a pull-through 50AMP with full hook-up site, you have options.  Just be prepared for a little bit of a price difference between the basic site and the all out pull-through options.  

Rooms / Country Suites / Cottages

And finally, we have the 3 remaining options that won’t leave you out in the cold at all!  At Interlake RV Park they offer 3 luxury ways to stay.  Starting with a single room for a solo traveler, they also offer a Country Suite for 2 people and a Country Suite for 4 people, and then they offer a Camping Cottage for up to 6 people.  

The Single Room comes with a queen bed, a shared kitchen and a shared bath.  While this is definitely on the bare-bones side of a stay, it’s the most affordable of the luxury options.

Next up are the Country Suites.  The suite for 2 has a full bed, a private kitchen and bath with a shared screened in porch.  The suite for 4 offers a queen bed, a sitting futon for the other bed, a private kitchen and bath.  This option also shares the screened in porch.  

And finally, we have the most glamorous way to stay with their Camping Cottage.  This 3 bed 2 bath cottage is the perfect way to get away from home without ever having to give up your space.  

While each way to stay sounds lovely, let’s break down the price.  Because we all know in this economy you don’t want to go over budget!

Finally we have the nicest, and most expensive option.  These options are great if you don’t want to camp, but you still want to get away from it all.  Interlake RV Park offers Single Rooms (Sleeps 1), Country Suites (Sleeps 2 and Sleeps 4 options), and even a Camping Cottage (Sleeps 6)

Our Camping Experience

My husband, myself, and our yellow lab stayed at Interlake RV Park for a full 2 weeks.  This gave us plenty of time to explore the nearby town of Rhinebeck, a little bit of Kingston and to get two weekends of hiking in the Catskills.  We were able to hike several of the High Peaks in Catskill Park while we were here.  

While we normally camp at state parks, this was a great option that had both electric/water hook-ups and a few amenities that are nice every once in a while.  This park was clean and well set up so you still had the space of a state park.  

Overall, we would stay here again, especially with the weekly discount that gave us the opportunity to save some money and add a few days to our stay.  

Conclusion

Interlake RV Park is a great way to stay near the Catskill Mountain Range without having to give up the space and amenities.  And Interlake isn’t one of those parking-lot-style RV parks.  The affordable rates and the space between sites is what sets Interlake above nearby campgrounds.  

This family friendly RV Park is great for a weekend getaway or as long as you want to stay!  The pool is perfect for those who don’t want to drive far, but there are lake options within an hour for some summer relaxing.  Don’t miss out on hiking in Catskill Park either!
