Need to Know
Despite its name, Goose Island State Park does not have a beach. The expected “beach” area is rocky and made primarily of bulkhead concrete walls.
To ensure that you don’t think you’re getting a beach vacation, there are warnings before you reserve a campsite. But if you plan to visit for a day trip, don’t go looking for the sandy beaches.
Location
Goose Island State Park is only a 45 minute drive from Corpus Christi, TX. So while there is no beach on Goose Island, you aren’t a far drive from the beautiful beaches of that area.

If you are wondering how far Goose Island is from other major Texas cities, here are 3 quick reference points. Goose Island State Park is 3 hours from Houston, TX, about 2.5 hours from San Antonio, TX and 6 hours from Dallas, TX.
Address: 202 S. Palmetto St. Rockport, TX 78382-7965
Fees
Goose Island State Park charges a daily entrance fee, just like all other Texas State Parks. The daily fee to enter the park is $5 per adult (age 13+) and is free for children 12 and under.
Unfortunately, if you are camping here, this fee is still applied upon your arrival. In other words, even if you are camping here for a few days and have paid that in full, you will still be charged $5 per adult, per day.
This daily fee adds up very quickly, especially if you are camping with teenagers. So is there a way around these fees? YES! You can buy a Texas State Parks Pass for $70 that gets you and your entire car-full of visitors into the park for free. This pass is good for 1 year from the day of purchase so you can enter all 88 state parks for free in that timeframe.
