Location
Village Creek State Park is located 20 minutes outside of Beaumont, TX. If you are looking to get away from life for a couple of days, but don’t want to give up civilization entirely, Village Creek might be just the place!

Village Creek is a 1.5 hour drive from Houston, TX, 4 hours from Austin,TX, and 4 hours from New Orleans, LA. So while the park probably isn’t a day trip for you if you live near these cities, it’s a great place for a weekend getaway!
Fees
All of Texas State Parks charge an entrance fee, it just depends how much! So how much will you be charged to visit Village Creek State Park?
For people 13 and older, this park charges $4 per person. Kids that are 12 and under are free.
But what if you plan to visit Village Creek, or any of the Texas State Parks, multiple times? Well if that’s the case then you are going to want to purchase the Texas State Parks Pass! This little pass is $70 per year and gets you, and a whole car full of guests, into all of the parks for free!
Parking
Throughout the park there are several parking areas. The largest parking lot is down in the Day Use Area, which is at the end of the only road in the park.
There are also several smaller parking lots sprinkled throughout Village Creek State Park, including at their HeadQuarters and at the main trailhead.

At Village Creek State Park there are several things to do that will keep you and the whole family busy!
There’s fishing in Village Creek. Or you can go paddling in Village Creek. There is also a picnic area, with a small playground and a pavilion nearby.
You could also go hiking or biking on their 8 miles of trails! And they even have a swimming section of the creek designated at the end of the Village Creek Trail.

In Village Creek State Park, or any Texas State Park for that matter, you don’t need a fishing license to try your hand at catching fish. The park even loans out fishing gear to be used in the park…and it’s FREE!
Go cast a line and try your luck at catching catfish, sunfish or bass in Village Creek.
Paddling Details
The Village Creek is part of an extensive Texas Paddling Trail that is 21 miles long. While only a portion of this paddling trail runs through the state park itself, there is a great opportunity to paddle a portion of it!

In Village Creek State Park, you can bring your own watercraft, or you can rent one between 8am and 3pm. The park offers SUP, Kayaks, or Canoes and they also provide life jackets.
Picnic, Pavilion, Playground
These 3 pieces of the park can all be found in the Day Use area, by the banks of Village Creek. You can enjoy a quick lunch with the kids and then let them enjoy a little time on the swings.
You can also rent out the Picnic Pavilion for $50 per day. This is perfect for a birthday party or any other type of celebration for 80 people or less.
Hiking and Biking
Village Creek State Park has 8 miles of hiking/biking trails spread out throughout their 2,400+ acres. This park is heavily wooded, which creates great shade for your hiking or biking adventures.
All of these trails were very flat and easy to walk. There is little-to-no elevation gain and the paths were well-labeled with various colored markings along the trail.
Except for the closed trails, I was able to hike all of them within 2 hours. So you won’t need a ton of time to hike these easy trails, but they did make for a great walk in the woods.
